Two things to check before subscribing. First, the 30-day money-back guarantee does not apply to monthly purchases — only annual ones. Is StrongVPN safe?
The technical basics are in place. StrongVPN supports WireGuard alongside OpenVPN, IKEv2, SSTP and L2TP, torrenting is permitted on all servers, and the apps cover the main platforms plus Fire TV and routers. For everyday use on a home connection, it works as advertised.
Two structural issues sit above that, though, and both matter more than any feature list.
Jurisdiction and ownership
StrongVPN operates out of New York. The United States is a founding member of the Five Eyes intelligence-sharing arrangement and has legal mechanisms that can compel a company to hand over data and, in some circumstances, to stay silent about having done so. Every other provider on this site is based somewhere with a lighter regime — Switzerland, Greece, Malaysia, Romania, the British Virgin Islands.
StrongVPN is owned by Ziff Davis, which also owns IPVanish. That is worth knowing if you are comparing the two: they are corporate siblings rather than independent alternatives.
The audit gap
StrongVPN states that it keeps no logs. No independent auditor has ever verified that claim, and the company publishes no transparency report. In a US jurisdiction the absence of external verification carries more weight than it would elsewhere: the no-logs policy is precisely the thing that determines whether there is anything to hand over, and it rests entirely on the company's own word.
One practical gap worth repeating: the kill switch is available on the desktop clients only. If you are buying a VPN mainly for your phone — public Wi-Fi, travel, mobile data — the feature that protects you when the tunnel drops is not there.
Streaming and torrenting
This is where StrongVPN earns its place. Streaming support is among the widest of any provider we cover: Netflix, Disney+, Max, Hulu, Prime Video, BBC iPlayer, ITVX, Crunchyroll and All 4 all connect, although some require adjusting which server you are on.
Torrenting is equally straightforward — P2P is allowed on every server rather than confined to a handful of designated locations, which removes a step most competitors still require.
Who it suits — and who it does not
Worth considering if you
- Want one subscription to cover a lot of devices — twelve is generous.
- Are buying primarily to watch geo-restricted streaming libraries on a desktop or TV.
- Torrent frequently and want P2P allowed everywhere without picking special servers.

Final verdict
StrongVPN is a competent streaming and torrenting VPN with an unusually high device limit. If that is the whole of what you need and you are comfortable with a US-based provider, it will do the job.
For anything privacy-led, the case is much weaker. A Five Eyes jurisdiction combined with no independent audit is a difficult pairing to defend when providers in Switzerland, Greece and Malaysia offer stronger positions on both counts — several of them for less money on a long-term plan. Add a desktop-only kill switch and no way to test the service before paying, and it lands in the lower half of our rankings.
